(6:40) Decide
(6:47) Decide why it’s still important to you. Why did you decide to take on this resolution in the first place?
(7:15) Be positive about the potential improvement! Negative reasoning is just going to make you feel worse and keep you debilitated.
(9:42) Defy
(9:56) What obstacles have you experienced in the first month of the year that have kept you from fulfilling your resolutions?
(10:27) Get outside of yourself and your excuses. What does it really take to defy those obstacles when they inevitably come?
(12:13) It’s not “if” it’s “when”… so come up with your “if, then” statement.
(12:42) If it’s someone’s birthday at the office and there’s cake, then I get to bring the special healthier treat to the party to enjoy for myself.
(13:40) If my child wakes up earlier when I’m trying to spend time focusing on my morning routine, then I will give them a special morning routine activity so they can be a part of the time in their own way.
(14:43) If I didn’t save enough time for my normal workout, then I will open the 7 Minute Workout app and do as much as I can for 7 minutes.
(16:00) Dismiss
(16:01) Dismiss what’s necessary. Is your why nonexistent? Not good enough. Be okay with dismissing a resolution that just doesn’t fit your priorities now that you have a more clear mind about it.
(17:14) You can also just dismiss the insanely high expectation on yourself. Extreme Diet + Daily exercise plan = too much
(21:00) Dream
(21:04) Remember when we had time for daydreaming?
(21:30) When you dream about what your resolution will do for you, what does it look like?
(22:44) Visualization
(24:50) Do one thing
(24:57) Small changes compound over time
(25:21) Decide you’re going to take your resolutions in stages and do one at a time. If you think one is too small, do only it anyway and see how it goes. Just because you want to see yourself improve drastically, doesn’t mean you need to be drastic with the amount of things you take on.
(27:29) Is your house always messy, but you’re also overweight or getting sick all the time. Do one thing: never leave your sink full. Stick with that resolution and see how you’re doing in all areas of your life in turn.
(28:19) Are you exhausted all the time, but you also feel like you’re not getting anything done in going after the life you want? Do one thing. Quit your device time for the last and first half hours of the day. See how you feel.
(30:32) If you have any tips for broken resolutions, share them on our latest post @DetailsPodcast on Instagram with #lemonlife!
