When you’re just starting out in the business world, things can be a liiiittle crazy.
[Read: Things will be more than a little crazy. Hang in there. I’m rooting for you!]
There’s what seems to be like a million different apps, websites, and resources all claiming to be the best of the best. Some are free, some cost your entire paycheck, and it can be exhausting to figure out which are the real deal.
After being in business for over 10 years, I’ve compiled my list of tried-and-trues to help you expedite that headache. Check out the 7 tools that have been my foundation for all things organization, management, creativity, and relationship-building.
Trello
This is the PLACE to be for project management. Trello allows you to create boards for your different projects, assign tasks to your team, mark deadlines within checklists, tag teammates, and add photos and videos… seriously, it does it all.
Slack
This is what my team and I use for our internal communication. Within Slack, you create different channels for the various topics you’ll be discussing. This helps keep everything organized AND easy to reference later.
Contactually
If you’re working on your networking (and if you’re reading this, you should be!), this is my #1 tool. While it can be pricey, I simply haven’t found anything that measures up in terms of functionality. It’s user-friendly and keeps you on your toes with all your contacts. It’ll even give you reminders when it’s time to reach out again. Who doesn’t love to outsource that kind of mental clutter?
Canva
This is a full-service tool for photo editing and super easy graphic design. You can make thumbnails, insta posts and stories, newsletter graphics, etc. My team and I use this daily to make graphics, choose fonts, and edit photos.
Later
The social media grind is REAL. To make it a little easier on yourself, use an app like Later to plan out and schedule your instagram posts. You can get them done ahead of time, schedule them to post, and then forget about them until ‘Later’.
Freshbooks
When you’re going into business for yourself, you need to be on top of all those fun financial metrics. This tool is great for accounting made EASY. You can use Freshbooks to send invoices, organize your receipts and expenses, and track time.
Evernote
Everyone needs an app dedicated for note-taking. Everyone. This service is great for both taking notes AND keeping them organized, for both business and life! Plus, it’s free to sign up!
