We’ll break down a few of the do’s and don’ts here, but check out the podcast to hear them all!
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO
Launch with Enough Content (6:15)
It’s important to have enough content ready to go before you actually even launch. A good rule of thumb is to have at least three episodes ready to post for your podcast launch.
A formula that is helpful for this is to post a quick five minute intro for episode zero, and then two full episodes. In doing this, you give people examples of what they can expect if they subscribe.
Write Show Notes (33:24)
You should always make looking for more information easy for your viewers. Show notes are vital to making sure that your audience can find things that you mentioned in your podcast, or have a quick refresh of what you talked about.
WHAT YOU SHOULDN’T DO
Don’t Assume People Will Listen (5:02)
There’s an old saying that goes, “if you build it, they will come.” This saying should not be where you are getting your marketing advice from. You have to put in the work of spreading the news about your podcast in order to get listeners.
Don’t Miss an Upload (18:30)
It is very important to publish consistently. We publish the Detail Therapy podcast every Tuesday.
Going along with this, it can be helpful to observe seasons. This allows you to take breaks at the end of each season.
