Black Lives Matter.

When I say ‘go after the life you want,’ I want you to know that I mean that message from the bottom of my heart. And I mean it for absolutely everyone.

That includes the Black community. And I don’t feel that I’ve called enough attention to that.

My support cannot be assumed by you. Instead, it must be proclaimed by me. I apologize to the members of the Black community, and I know that I must show up and show that support in a bigger way.

I stand with you. I stand against racism, and I stand against the systemic oppression of Black people.

Because Black lives matter. Full stop.

The biggest lesson that we as white people are learning right now is the difference between not being racist, and being actively anti-racist. It is not enough to say that you have ‘Black friends.’ It is not enough to be uncomfortable when your family uses a racial slur. Your actions must always speak louder than your words.

And those actions must begin with removing the word ‘I’ from the conversation.

It’s not about you, and it’s not about me. It’s about coming together in the fight against injustice, against the murder of Black people, and against the way we have been trained to see their race. It is time to unlearn.

One of the most powerful ways we can join against injustice is by practicing our right to vote. Make your voice heard, and make sure you’re registered in the US. We may not always have the representation we desire, but nothing will change if we don’t show up.

Right now, give what you can. If you can contribute money, that’s great. If you can’t, you can always give your time and your voice. Take action. Speak up. Make a difference where you can, when you can.

And no matter what, continue to have the audacity to go after the life you want.
