Why You Have Nothing To Vlog About

Sometimes I vlog about vlogging. Meta, I know. Vlogging is obviously something near and dear to my heart; I mean, I wrote a whole book about it!  I want to make sure you never say, “I have nothing to vlog about.”

If this is your first time here, you should know that I talk a lot about making video and how video can help you grow as an influencer, thought-leader, or business owner. I truly believe in the power of video, and I believe that video is one of the most powerful tools out there.

But what do you do when you have nothing to vlog about?  …if you can’t come up with something to talk about? #BigProblem

Why do you make video?

To create. To communicate. When you’re communicating, you have to talk to the people.

If you can’t find a topic, you’ve basically said you can’t come up with anything useful or interesting or entertaining to say to the person you’re making video for.

It doesn’t matter why – it’s not always about converting or making the sale. Sometimes people are just finding you and they need to invest emotionally in you first. Video is a great medium for people to find you, and this is the opportunity for you to address their pain points.

Who do you make video for?

Knowing your ideal viewer is very important. Where do they live? How old are they? Do they have kids? What is their commute? Do they watch TV or online videos at the end of the day? What do they wish they had time for?

When you know who you’re talking to, you can’t stop talking.

When you know who you’re talking to, you’re no longer talking to the lens of the camera, but to a real person.

When you are talking to a real person, there are always things to say.

If you’re struggling to find vlog topics, think about what matters to your ideal viewer. #vloglikeaboss Click To Tweet

Think about what matters to them right now.

That is what you should vlog about.

If you know what matters to your audience, you’ll never run out of topics. You’ll never run out of valuable things to say.

Do your homework. Go to www.vloggingtopics.com and find 1,000 topics that you could start vlogging about today. Seriously.
